The Library of Congress began the incremental redesign of its web site (loc.gov) in 2006. Conversion of the existing sub-sites to the new design has continued, along with the creation of new sub-sites such as those celebrating the cultural theme months designated by the President and Congress throughout the year. Shown here is the home page for the 2007 African American History Month site. For all seven 2007 cultural theme month sites, I created the information architecture, recommended the featured content, and gathered the content links. There were two key challenges in creating these sub-sites: 1) finding rich content from the Library that was available online and 2) providing users with a cohesive experience, given that some pages the sites linked to had not been converted to the new design.

Creation of three of the sub-sites required collaboration with the National Endowment for the Humanities, National Gallery of Art, National Park Service, Smithsonian Institution, U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, and U.S. National Archives and Records Administration.
